A Honey Comb 

My father grew up in a very small town. There was a municipal dispensary there. Nobody could make use of the assistance or facilities provided by this government hospital. When people approached the medical staff even for a mild headache, they would frighten the person by saying, “You have a very serious disease, please go to some other hospital which has better facilities or else you may die.” After sometime, a new doctor was posted to that dispensary. The number of people who sought him medical aid multiplied tremendously, the reason being he attentively listened to the symptoms that the patients mentioned to him. Then, he would say, “Oh! This is a very common problem. It can be cured very easily. There is nothing to worry.” These words, by themselves would make the disease disappear and bring life into the patient. His compassion and love brought about healing in many people. A number of people received hope through his pleasant words that were sweet like a honeycomb to their soul and health to the bones. 

Yes my friend, a pleasant word is like a honeycomb and, sweet words that come from God is sweeter to the soul and health to the bones. Let not our words be reckless and hurt the feelings of others. But ask God to fill your mouth with words of healing and comfort. 

Prayer

“Abba Father, please help me to speak pleasant words that bring sweetness to the soul and health to the bones of the people with whom I interact, this day. May the words of my mouth be pleasing to You always, pronouncing peace and joy. This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
