The Greatest Life You Can Live I grew up in the 70s, and 1977 was a major year for personal computing. Steve Jobs had just launched the Apple II with a 5 ¼” floppy disk drive. And because of my interest in graphics and animation, my dad bought me an Atari system. My dream then was to be a professor in computer science someday—teaching and researching in a university—and eventually to work in Silicon Valley. That was what I wanted and where I thought I was going. One day, I was tasked by my church leader to send a missionary off at the airport. So I boarded a bus to head to the terminal. And as I was riding, I had an encounter. It was like Jesus walked onto the bus and began talking to me. And He asked me, “Kong, do you love Me more than anything?” Tears began streaming down my face, “Yes, Lord. I do.” That day, I surrendered my dreams to God, and took on His plans and purposes for my life. I received my calling from God to help raise up a generation of young people who would change the world for Christ. I learned what it meant then to look out not only for my own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:4). Maybe today God has a different plan for you than you’ve imagined. Seek His will for your life. Submit yourself to Him. There’s no greater way to live than to be in step with His calling! Prayer for the day: Pray that God would show you His will for your life, even if that’s not where you thought you were going. Pray for an open heart to accept His plans and purposes for you.
