Discovering The Gifts God’s Given You It’s funny how, when we’re young, we never evaluate our dreams for our lives in terms of our talent. But as we get older, the reality hits us that there are some things in life that we’ll just never be able to do. If you’re tone deaf, you’ll never be a singer. If you have two left feet, you can’t be a dancer. More often than not, no amount of training is going to help you! I’ve met many seminary students, and my heart breaks when I see how much they want to be a successful pastor. But the problem is, they don’t like people. They want to hide in a library and study theology. And unless the Lord makes a big change in their lives, in particular their hearts, they won’t be successful pastors. God’s calling is always going to match His gifts. He’s not going to call you to achieve a dream for which He hasn’t gifted you. Romans 12:6 says, “In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.” God wants you to be successful and fulfilled in everything that you do. He has called you to a specific role in His Kingdom, and He gifts you to fulfill that role like no other person could. So dream big for your life ... but dream accurately with the gifts and calling that God has given you! Prayer for the day: Ask God to show you how He’s gifted and called you. And pray that He will give you dreams to match so that you can experience the success He has in store for your life.
