"..and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:19 (NIV)

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Love is best understood not through words alone, but through sacrifice.

Recently, I visited the beautiful Masai Mara. Every game drive offered a unique encounter with wildlife, and every detail of our stay made the experience memorable. I could describe the breathtaking scenery, the comfort of the lodge, and the excitement of seeing animals up close. My description might even make you want to visit. Yet no matter how detailed it is, you would never fully know the experience until you were there yourself.

The same is true of God's love. We can talk about it, read about it, and tell others about it, but it must be experienced to be truly known. That is why Paul prays that believers would know the love of Christ—a love that surpasses knowledge.

The clearest picture of that love is found at the cross. Jesus willingly endured rejection, humiliation, suffering, and death to reconcile us to God. He saw beyond the pain to the people He came to save. His sacrifice reveals the depth of His affection for us in a way words alone never could.

As we grasp what Christ has done, His love moves from being a concept to a reality that transforms us. We begin to rest in His acceptance, trust in His goodness, and reflect His heart toward others. The more deeply we experience His love, the greater our capacity becomes to love those around us.

God's love is not merely something to be studied—it is something to be encountered.
