DAY 7 OF 7

Day 7: The Eager Pursuit of Rest

  • Key Passage: Hebrews 4:11

Taking Rest Seriously

It sounds like a contradiction, but the Bible tells us to "do our best" (or be diligent) to enter rest. In Greek, the word is spoudazo, which means to be eager or to take something seriously. Rest doesn't happen by accident in a world that is designed to keep you busy.

You have to fight for your quiet time. You have to be intentional about turning off the noise. If you don't schedule rest, the world will schedule your stress. Taking rest seriously means believing that your time with God is more important than your next email or chore. It’s an act of war against the hurry of the world.

  • Call to Action: Look at your calendar for next week. Block off a "Sabbath window"—at least two hours where you turn off your phone and focus only on God’s goodness.
  • Reflection Questions:
    1. What is one "rest thief" (like social media or a specific habit) you need to set a boundary with?
    2. How can you make "entering rest" a priority this week rather than an afterthought?

About this Plan

Fresh Start

This 7-day plan helps you move from pressure and striving into the deep rest God offers in Christ. Through Hebrews 4 and other key passages, you will see that real rest is not laziness or escape, but trust in God’s finished work. Each day will help you identify what steals your peace, face the unbelief behind restlessness, and practice a quieter, more rooted life with Jesus. If you feel tired in body, mind, or soul, this plan will guide you toward the rest only God can give.
