Day 6: Honesty over Performance
Key Passage: Luke 18:13
The Prayer that Landed
Jesus told a story about two men praying. One listed all his religious accomplishments, but he left the temple just as restless as he arrived. The other man, a tax collector, simply cried out, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner." Jesus said the second man went home "justified"—right with God.
Rest is found in the "mercy zone," not the "performance zone." If you feel you have to "clean up" before you talk to God, you will always be tired. But if you come to Him with your mess and ask for mercy, you will find a rest that heals. You don't have to be perfect to land in God's grace; you just have to be honest.
- Call to Action: Spend your prayer time today only asking for mercy and giving thanks. No "to-do" lists for God—just gratitude for His grace.
