DAY 3 OF 7

Day 3: The Root of Restlessness

Key Passage: Hebrews 3:19

The Trust Problem

The Israelites failed to enter the Promised Land—their place of rest—not because they weren't strong enough, but because of apistia (unbelief). We often blame our lack of rest on our busy schedules, our kids, or our demanding jobs. But often, the root of restlessness is a trust problem.

If we truly believed that God is our Shepherd and that He provides everything we need, we would sleep better. When we refuse to rest, we are essentially saying, "God, I don't think You can handle this without me." Unbelief turns us into orphans who have to fend for themselves. Faith turns us into children who can sleep soundly because they know their Father is awake.

  • Call to Action: Read Psalm 23 slowly. Every time you read "The Lord is my shepherd," remind yourself that you are the sheep, and the sheep’s only job is to follow the one who knows where the green pastures are.
  • Reflection Questions:
    1. In what area of your life do you find it hardest to trust God?
    2. Does your schedule reflect a heart that trusts God or a heart that feels it must do everything itself?

About this Plan

Fresh Start

This 7-day plan helps you move from pressure and striving into the deep rest God offers in Christ. Through Hebrews 4 and other key passages, you will see that real rest is not laziness or escape, but trust in God’s finished work. Each day will help you identify what steals your peace, face the unbelief behind restlessness, and practice a quieter, more rooted life with Jesus. If you feel tired in body, mind, or soul, this plan will guide you toward the rest only God can give.
