Shifting Your PerspectiveSample

Day 4: Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
Reading: Hebrews 12:1–3
Devotional: Running a race while looking backward guarantees you'll stumble. Yet many of us try to follow Jesus while constantly glancing at past failures, present problems, or what everyone else seems to be doing. The writer of Hebrews gives a clear prescription: fix your eyes on Jesus — not your giants, not your obstacles, not other people's callings or blessings. When Peter walked on water, he stayed above the surface as long as his eyes were locked on Christ. The moment he shifted his focus to the wind and waves, he sank. Your focus determines your faith. Comparison steals your calling. Distraction derails your destiny. Whatever has been competing for your attention today — worry, pressure, envy — it cannot hold you up. Only Jesus can. Consciously redirect your gaze. Keep your eyes fixed.
Reflection: What has been pulling your focus away from Jesus lately? What would it look like to bring your eyes back to Him today?
Prayer: Jesus, I've been staring at the waves. I've let worry, comparison, and distraction set my direction instead of You. Forgive me. Today I fix my eyes on You — the author and perfecter of my faith. When my gaze drifts, draw it back. You are worth looking at. In Your name, Amen.
