Seek First Through the Holy Spirit

Have you ever noticed that the Bible is filled with ordinary people doing extraordinary things? You might have thought that the most efficient way for Jesus to do His ministry would be for Him to do all the work himself, but this isn't what we see in the Scriptures.

In Matthew 28, we see Jesus invite us to join in his mission, and in Acts 1, he promises us his Holy Spirit to equip us for this mission. However, for many of us, we don't accept the invitation to this mission or move into the power he has promised us.

Imagine you're in a water park, and there is a lazy river, and it's the only ride you go on for the entire time you're there. Yeah, it would be nice, calm, and comfortable, with no danger. But there are so many other rides that you could go on and experience, and that is the same with the Holy Spirit as we journey with Jesus. There is so much more that we can experience when we just listen and take that step.

We see in Acts that when the apostles gathered, the Holy Spirit increased his presence, and more and more people came to see the signs and wonders. We, as followers of Jesus, aren’t excluded from this. Let’s remember that his presence is with us wherever we go.

If we seek God through the power of the Holy Spirit, we, as very ordinary people, are given power to point to an extraordinary God!

Jesus, thank you that you want to partner with us to enhance your kingdom and show others of your goodness, that they may see more signs and wonders of you. Help me to step out in your presence. Amen.
