Pride: The Hidden Sin

DAY 5 OF 6

The Pride Litmus Test

Let’s try a little self-examination, a pride litmus test. Consider the question: "Do I consider the sins of others to be worse than my own?" Reflect on your own tendencies to judge others and think about moments when you have compared yourself to others.

Next, think about the question: "Am I always the victim of arguments and disagreements?" You can also reflect on recent conflicts and consider whether you have taken responsibility for your actions or always placed blame elsewhere.

Another important question is: "When last did you repent before God?" Use this as an opportunity for honest self-examination, considering specific areas where you may need to seek forgiveness and realign your heart.

Continue by reflecting on the question: "When last did you open your Bible and pray?" Consider your daily habits and whether self-sufficiency has kept you from seeking spiritual nourishment.

Also, ask yourself: "Is the gathering of the saints secondary?" Think about your priorities and how you choose between spiritual community and other activities.

Additionally, reflect on the question: "While listening to the video or going through the reading plan, how many other people did you think of that would benefit from hearing them?"

Consider whether you tend to apply spiritual lessons to others rather than yourself and ask when you last allowed a sermon or teaching to personally challenge and change you.

Questions to consider:

  • Do I consider the sins of others to be worse than my own?
  • When last did you open your Bible and pray?
  • Is the gathering of the saints secondary?
