Pride: The Hidden SinSample

The Unbeliever’s Pride - The Nature of Pride and the Call to Humility
Today, let’s start with Psalm 14:1: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ ”
Pride can show up as a refusal to acknowledge God, even when the evidence is all around us. Sometimes, it’s not about what we know, but what we want.
Pride can make us feel self-sufficient, like we don’t need a Saviour. But the Bible warns us: “Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord.”
Daniel Moll assures us that pride might stick around for a while, but in the end, “every knee will bow . . . every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord . . .” (Philippians 2:10-11)
Questions to consider
- What evidence of pride do you see in your own heart or in the world around you?
- How does pride influence your willingness to seek God or accept the gospel?
- What does it mean to “set aside your pride” and embrace humility before God?
