Pride: The Hidden Sin

DAY 1 OF 6

Pride: The Hidden Sin that God Hates

Do you believe pride to be a hidden sin?

Let’s begin by reading three verses from Proverbs.
Proverbs 6:16 explains that God hates “haughty eyes,” which means a proud look.
Proverbs 8:13 teaches that to fear the Lord is to hate evil, and God says, “I hate pride and arrogance, evil behaviour and perverse speech.”
Proverbs 16:5 warns that the Lord detests all who are proud in heart and assures us that they will not go unpunished.

These verses show that pride is a serious problem. God sees pride as a big sin, even if it is hidden inside us. Pride is called a “root sin” because it can lead to many other problems in our lives.

It is often invisible to others, because it is not just about what we do, but also about what we think and feel. God cares deeply about our hearts and wants us to change on the inside, not just on the outside.

Today, take a quiet moment to reflect and ask yourself, “Is there pride hiding in my heart?” Remember, even if no one else sees it, God does, and He takes it seriously.

Questions to Consider:

  • Is there pride hiding in my heart?
  • In what ways might pride influence my actions or decisions, perhaps without me realising it?
  • Why is it important to take pride seriously, even when it feels subtle or hidden from others?
