Our real battle

Satan was defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus. But his kingdom is still active.

We are involved in a spiritual war.

The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, disguises himself as an angel of light, and seeks to steal, kill, and destroy.

The Word clearly says:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
— Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

Our battle is spiritual. That is why God has given us spiritual weapons.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (NKJV)

One of those weapons is the powerful Name of Jesus. Other weapons include the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the armour of God.

“Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

We now have both the weapons and the authority to resist and defeat Satan.
We have the authority to say “no” to the lies of the enemy, to temptation, and to sin.

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
— James 4:7 (NKJV)

When Satan comes with lies and temptation, you rise, take the sword of the Spirit, and say, “No! There it is written.”

You resist. You can overcome these attacks through the Word of God and the Name of Jesus.

That is why it is so important to know the Word of God.

Father, thank You for giving me spiritual weapons. Teach me to stand firm in truth and faith. Amen.
