How authority was lost… and regained

God was almighty. All authority in heaven and on earth belonged to Him.
Then He gave that authority to mankind, so that humanity would rule over the earth. The Bible says:

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’”
— Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

Man had all power and authority over this earth. He could do with it whatever he wanted—it belonged to him.
But mankind handed this authority over to the devil when they listened to him in the Garden of Eden.

“And the devil said to Him, ‘All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be Yours.’”
— Luke 4:6–7 (NKJV)

So the devil ruled over this earth.
Jesus even calls him “the ruler of this world” (John 12:31).

We were all handed over to Satan in sin. We were bound—slaves of darkness, hopelessly lost. Without a Saviour, there was no way out.

But then Jesus came.

He came and conquered hell, death, and the grave. And He declared:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
— Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)

With that, He completed the work. He conquered death and rendered Satan powerless. Jesus took back authority over this earth and then gave it to us—the believers:

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
— Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

We now once again have authority to rule over Satan. The difference is that we can no longer give this authority away, as Adam and Eve did.

Power means authority.
And the key to this authority is the Name of Jesus.

What does this have to do with prayer for healing?
Everything.

When we pray for others, we step into the spiritual realm. Prayer stirs things up—especially when you pray against a problem someone is dealing with, such as sickness. You need to understand how that realm works, what authority and power you have, and what you, as a believer, are able to do in order to see results. Results in prayer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for taking back authority and giving it to me again. I want to know more about this and understand it. Will you help me? Amen.
