Faith, our Access Code

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

Faith is our access to all the provisions of grace. Grace has already made everything available; faith is what receives it. Faith does not produce grace—it simply lays hold of what grace has already provided. Faith itself comes from God and is birthed by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

So what is faith? Faith is the capacity to believe God and His Word, even when there is no visible evidence—or when the evidence seems contrary. In Genesis 15:6, the Bible tells us that Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. Abraham trusted that God was able and faithful to do exactly what He had promised. In the same way, faith believes in and receives the provisions of God’s grace.

If the Word of God says Jesus died for me, I believe it and agree with it.

If the Word of God says I am loved by God, I believe it and agree with it.

If the Word of God says I am righteous, I believe it and agree with it.

If the Word of God says I am forgiven, I believe it and agree with it.

And more than that—I live as though these truths are real because they are!

This is how we access the provisions of grace: by believing God’s Word, agreeing with it, and aligning our lives with what grace has already made true.

What would change in your daily life if you consistently agreed with what God says about you instead of what circumstances suggest?

Dear Father, thank You for the access I have to Your grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I choose to believe Your Word above my circumstances and agree with what You say about me—that I am loved, forgiven, righteous, and at peace with You. Help me to live daily from this truth, receiving all that Your grace has already provided. In Jesus’ name, amen.
