Living through the Lens of Grace
“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Galatians 2:20-21 (NIV)
Living through the lens of grace is learning to see everything through the lens of your identity and position in Christ. As believers, our identity, access to God, righteousness, and victory are all found in Christ. God relates to us only in Christ, not on the basis of our performance. We ought to have no confidence in ourselves (Philippians 3:3); our boast should only be in God’s finished works for us through Christ Jesus. As the book of Hebrews states, the Christian life is lived simply by looking to Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). No wonder the book starts out by making a case for the supremacy of Jesus over all things—men, angels, and dispensations.
Jesus is supreme—Creator, Saviour, and Redeemer—and all of God’s fullness is revealed in Him. His sacrifice is the foundation of our faith, and our victory flows from resting in what He has already finished. Today’s invitation is simple: shift your focus fully to Jesus—who He is, what He has done, and what that means for your daily life.
Reflection
What areas in your life do you look to yourself and not to Jesus? List them and commit to making adjustments.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, be magnified in my heart and life till I see nothing else but You.
