Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
The announcement of a Saviour. The expectation of something, someone, new. A new beginning. Hope for the future. Joy and peace at last! The chaos and surprise of the chorus of angels praising the God of the Ages for the arrival of the One would have been terrifying, yet strangely life giving, as the shepherds gazed in amazement at the spectacle.
Good News to the shepherds was indeed good news to us all as the baby was born; the Good Shepherd Himself. As the shepherds looked after the sheep keeping watch over the flocks at night, the great Shepherd who had watched over humanity joined His sheep so we would know His voice.
At this time, in this very moment, we give glory to God and rest in His peace, thankful for the coming of the Saviour, Jesus, our great Shepherd.
