Because of Jesus, you are the light to the world

During the holiday season, neighborhoods come alive with Christmas lights. Streets that are usually quiet burst into color, sparkling with green, red, blue, and gold. People travel from house to house, admiring the glow and the joy it brings.

Light draws us in. In the midst of darkness, it signals hope, warmth, and life. Light changes everything it touches.

The same light that broke into the world at Christmas now lives in you.

When Jesus said, “You are the light of the world,” He wasn’t giving a motivational quote, He was giving an identity. Your kindness, compassion, and quiet faithfulness reflect Him. Every smile, every word of encouragement, every act of love carries the glow of Jesus. And the darker the world feels, the brighter His people stand out.

This is the invitation of Christmas that never ends: to live as lights in the world. Steady, hopeful, and radiant.

On Christmas Day, we celebrate that Jesus, the Light of Life, not only overcame the darkness of death and suffering but continues to walk with us today. Just as the pillar of fire guided the Israelites through the desert, Jesus leads you through the darkness of your own pain, loss, and uncertainty. He invites you to cast your cares on Him and trust each next step. And as you walk in His light, something wonderful happens, you begin to reflect that light more and more.

Until the day we see Him fully, let’s follow Jesus in lighting the path for others. Merry Christmas! The Light has come.

Take a moment to reflect on Jesus’ light in your life

• Where in your life do you long to see Jesus’ light shine?
• How can you shine Jesus’ light into the darkness around you?
• Thinking about what you’ve learned this week. Jesus as Immanuel, the Light, the Way, Truth, and Life, Healer and Savior, Generous, and Promise Keeper. How does knowing Him help you share Him with others?

Now, let’s pray

"Lord, thank You for Your light. Because of Jesus, I am never alone. Please shine into the dark, impossible places in my life. Help me remember that You have overcome the darkness. As I experience Your light, help me be a light for others, pointing them to Your goodness and truth. Amen."

Now, take a step to share God’s light

Find a Christmas light display and invite a friend who doesn’t know Jesus to join you. Ask them questions about their upbringing. When prompted by the Holy Spirit, share your testimony.
