The Way of Immanuel: How to Share Jesus This ChristmasSample

Jesus is Generous
We live in a world that says, “I don’t have enough to spare.”
But Jesus flips that idea upside down.
He fed thousands of people with just five loaves and two fish — a boy’s small lunch. What seemed small became more than enough when Jesus touched it.
Your “little” might feel too small to matter, a few minutes, a small gift, a short prayer, but in Jesus’ hands, it can multiply.
Generosity isn’t about how much you have. It’s about willingness. It’s saying, “God, use what I have, however You want.” And the amazing thing? He can multiply what you surrender.
One day, Jesus and His disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee. A large crowd followed because they had heard about the people Jesus healed, the blind who could see, the lame who could walk. Some hoped for another miracle. Others just wanted to hear Him teach.
As the crowd arrived, Jesus asked His disciples, “How will we feed all these people?” He asked not because He didn’t know the answer, but to strengthen their faith. Would they trust Him to meet this need?
Philip said they couldn’t possibly buy enough food, pointing out there were no nearby markets. Meanwhile, Andrew found a boy with a lunch of five loaves and two fish. Small, but it was a start.
Jesus, lifted the loaves and fish to heaven and thanked God for them. Then He gave the food to the crowd. Everyone ate until they were full, and afterward, the disciples collected twelve baskets of leftovers.
The people were amazed. They saw a miracle and wondered if Jesus was the promised prophet. But instead of accepting their praise, He went up the mountain to pray alone.
Jesus invites you to trust Him to meet your needs in the same way. He can take what you have, even if it feels small or not enough, and turn it into something far greater than you imagined.
Whatever you need most today, bring it to Him in prayer. Trust Him to provide. When someone with a need crosses your path, ask God if He wants to use you to help, even if you think you don’t have enough. Thank Him for the ways He has already met your needs, and be ready to live generously.
Take a moment to reflect
- What needs are you trying to meet with your limited resources? How can you trust God to multiply what you have and provide completely?
- Who in your life might need God’s abundant provision? How can He use you to help them and strengthen their faith?
Now, let’s pray
"Thank You, Jesus, for working in my life and in the lives of people around me. I offer You all that I have. Can You help me to trust that You will provide for me where I lack? Show me how to use my resources to meet the needs of others. Thank You for Your generosity. Help me trust You with my whole heart. Amen."
Now, let’s take action and practice generosity today
Notice the people around you, your skills, and the needs in your local community. Pray and ask God to guide your steps, then take action by offering your time, talents, or resources to someone or an organization in need.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Volunteer at a nearby shelter or donate funds for meals or clothing this Christmas
- Sponsor a gift for a child or family in need
