Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play (Exodus 32:6 NKJV).
How are you spiritually protecting your children?
In the 1950s, a mere five percent of high school girls and ten percent of high school boys were sexually active. Fast forward to the year 2000, and those numbers soar to seventy percent for young ladies and eighty percent for young men. These staggering statistics underscore the urgency for parents to observe three crucial m's in safeguarding their children.
- The first m is about guarding your children’s music. Satan, it is said, loves to seduce the mind through carnal melodies. How are you protecting and training your children to flee from this form of lust?
- Modesty introduces the second m. In an era where improper images flood phones and provocative dressing becomes commonplace, we witness a further decline. Modesty becomes a powerful shield against these influences, a vital aspect of spiritual protection.
- The third m is morality. What leads children down the path of destruction remains constant—they leave the realm of the godly for the immoral.
As parents, our responsibility is to teach them to "flee youthful lusts" and to "pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV). Let’s engage with today’s text as we gain Biblical insights and use wisdom on spiritually protecting our children in a world that constantly challenges God’s word.
Employment Point: Seek to guard your children’s music, modesty, and morality.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
