Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18 NKJV).
Have your accomplishments gone to your head?
Nebuchadnezzar believed his success was his doing, but God humbled him, teaching him that all power and authority belong to Him (Daniel 4:34-37). Pride can sneak into our lives, too—do you take credit for your accomplishments instead of giving God the glory? Everything we have is a gift from Him, and humility keeps us close to His heart (James 4:6). Reflect on your life. Are you acknowledging God as the source of your blessings, or is pride creeping in?
Take time today to thank God for the successes in your life, giving Him the glory He deserves.
Employment Point: Humble yourself before the Lord and let Him exalt you.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
