Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 227 OF 365

For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ (Romans 14:10 NKJV).

Is God extreme when it comes to removing our sins?

David uses a figure of speech called a merism (a figure of speech showing two extremes, encompassing its entirety) to describe God’s mercy. He writes, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12 NKJV). This means our sins are completely gone. David also notes, “The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him...” (Psalm 103:17 NKJV), showing that God's mercy is endless.

God's love is remarkable; He put the world's sins on His Son so we could be forgiven and have a close relationship with Him. Paul explains this well in 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV), saying, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us.” Let’s reflect on God’s infinite mercy and embrace His forgiveness. Let this understanding deepen your relationship with Him.

Employment Point: Praise God for His mercy that is lavished upon us through Jesus.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
