Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV).
Are you always ready to tell others about Jesus?
Philip had a successful ministry in Samaria. The historian Luke wrote, "And the crowds listened intently to Philip because they were eager to hear his message and see the miraculous signs he did" (Acts 8:6 NLT). When the Lord told Philip to go to a deserted place in Gaza, Philip obeyed without hesitation. He understood Jesus' words to His followers: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19 NKJV).
A good servant not only obeys God’s commands, but he also understands the Bible. When a man from Ethiopia didn't understand a passage from Isaiah, Philip explained it to him and talked about Jesus (Acts 8:35). Philip was like Jesus, who explained the Scriptures to His followers on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:27).
Let's be like Philip and obey God's word. Let's also make sure we understand it well enough to explain it to others.
Employment Point: Always be ready to proclaim Jesus.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
