Lessons From Christ’s Final Week

DAY 6 OF 8

Jesus's Crucifixion, The Passover Lamb of God

Let us solemnly behold Christ on the cross. Bloodied, marred beyond recognition, and struggling to breathe. He continues to extend His love, His arms outstretched wide, showing mercy and forgiveness to those whose very hands caused His anguish, asking the Father to forgive them and overlook their sin. He extends an invitation to paradise to a condemned man beside Him. In His final breath, He releases His Spirit to the Father, and all of creation responds—the sun ceases to shine, the earth quakes, tombs open, and those once buried in the grave rose and appeared to many in Jerusalem. Christ's death—a cataclysmic event—broke open the way to eternal life. He was the sin offering, the Passover Lamb, to take away the sins of the world.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I stand in awe of You. Thank You for Your sacrifice and unending love, mercy, and forgiveness towards humanity. There is no other God but You, who could take upon the sin of all as the perfect, spotless Lamb. May I live as a living sacrifice unto You, expressing my gratitude through my love and obedience. Amen.

Personal Reflection

  1. Reflect on the immense suffering and sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Consider and receive the depth of his love for you and the power of His forgiveness.
  2. What does it mean for me that Jesus asked the Father to forgive those who crucified Him?
