Lessons From Christ’s Final WeekSample

Jesus's Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem
Reflect on the contrast between the crowds' initial praise and later rejection of Christ. How quickly the human heart can be changed. Imagine Jesus, having left all His glory in heaven, humbly sitting upon a donkey, entering the very city of Jerusalem, where He would one day rule and reign. He would have known that the people currently welcoming Him would later be the ones to shout, "Crucify Him!" And still…His steadfast love and resolve to do the Father's will compelled Him to lay His life down for all who in one moment praise Him, and in another, betray.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending your Son, Jesus, our King. Jesus, thank You for leaving Your glorious throne to humbly sacrifice Your life. Forgive me for ways that my heart has been fickle before You. Help me to remain steadfast and faithful to You, even when it is difficult. Give me an undivided heart to fear Your name! Hosanna in the highest! Amen.
Personal Reflection
- In what ways do I praise Jesus with my mouth but resist Him with my actions?
- How might the Lord be inviting me to be more wholehearted and authentic in my worship to Him?
