Threads: How the Bible Weaves Together

DAY 30 OF 30

Day 30: A New Heaven and Earth

Daily Thread: Revelation ends with a vision of the New Jerusalem, where the names of the twelve tribes of Israel are written on the city gates. This imagery connects the story of God’s covenant people to the apostles, whose names are written on the city’s foundations. The twelve tribes and twelve apostles together symbolize God’s redeemed people from both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible closes with God dwelling with His people in perfect fellowship, fulfilling the promises made from the beginning.

We have journeyed from creation to new creation, tracing how the Bible tells one unified story. We have seen how the twelve tribes formed the backbone of Israel’s identity, how the prophets called God’s people back to covenant faithfulness, and how all of God’s promises were fulfilled in Christ. The Bible ends where it began, with God dwelling with His people in perfect fellowship. This 30-day plan is only the beginning. As you continue to read Scripture, look for the threads that connect the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, the Gospels, and the Letters into one story of God’s redemption.
