Threads: How the Bible Weaves TogetherSample

Day 23: The Kingdom of God
Daily Thread: Jesus’ teaching on the kingdom of God came in the context of Israel’s longing for restoration. The twelve tribes had long awaited the day when they would be reunited under God’s reign. In Matthew 19:28, Jesus told His disciples that they would sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel, directly tying His kingdom to God’s covenant people. To seek God’s kingdom first means aligning life under Christ’s reign, which fulfills Israel’s hope and extends God’s blessings to all nations.
