Love It! 30 Days of Inspiration in Psalm 119Sample

Day 26 Psalm 119 Eagerness to Love God's Word
Most of the verses in Psalm 119 connect directly to God’s Word and His law. In Psalm 119:18, 27, 32, and 36, we hear the psalmist’s prayers echoing a desire to understand and live by God’s truth:
- “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.” (Psalm 119:18)
- “Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 119:27)
- “I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.” (Psalm 119:32)
- “Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!” (Psalm 119:36)
Though the wording differs across translations, the message is the same: the psalmist longs for open eyes, deeper understanding, and a heart eager to obey.
It’s fascinating to notice how these verses align with the Hebrew headings throughout Psalm 119: “Comfort Through Trials,” “Our Personal Guide,” and “Teach Me Your Ways.” Together, they show us that God’s Word is not only for information, it’s for transformation.
We also see how the psalmist welcomes God’s discipline and correction. That’s not always how we think of discipline. We often assume it’s harsh or negative, but in reality, God’s correction is an expression of His love. Like sheep prone to wander, we need a Shepherd who draws us back. His correction isn’t condemnation—it’s care. It protects us, restores us, and keeps us on the path of life.
I’m grateful that God doesn’t leave us in our wandering. He opens our eyes, expands our understanding, and places within us a new eagerness to love His Word. He reminds us that true treasure isn’t in wealth, comfort, or prestige; it’s in obedience.
Obedience is heaven’s currency, the treasure of those who walk by faith.
God’s Word is never shaken by culture, crisis, or time. It stands firm because it flows from His very nature—the God who does not change. His righteousness doesn’t waver. His truth doesn’t bend. His faithfulness doesn’t expire. When we build our lives on His promises, we are standing on bedrock, not shifting sand.
Question: Where do you need God to “open your eyes” to His truth today? How have you seen God’s correction in your past?
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see Your truth, expand my heart to love Your Word, and give me an eagerness to obey You with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
