Why I Believe

DAY 8 OF 11

No. 11 - I believe because I have seen the dramatic and “inexplicable” change in people when they got converted

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)"If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

People who claim they are not religious, who base their worldview on what can be proven by science, are often dumbfounded when they see the transformation in those who claim to have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour. While some may fake conversion or backslide, millions recount their experiences of life change and a newfound aversion to sin. In most cases, it is evident to all that something dramatic happened, transforming individuals with previously evil behaviour into individuals whose actions can only be explained by a supernatural encounter.

I have witnessed similar transformations in my own life. Many of my friends have testified to the changes they have undergone. Worldwide, testimonies of such transformations are shared daily. Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, atheists, secularists, New Agers, and many more will tell you about encounters that changed their outlook on life and granted them peace and purpose. They attribute these changes to their conversion to Christ. It is common for violent religious radicals and hardened criminals who encounter Christ to become peace-loving individuals who speak of a Saviour who changed them.

No. 12 – I believe in God because I experience His presence and help in my daily walk

Psalm 34:8 (NIV)"Taste and see that the LORD is good."

Many Christians base their faith in God on their practical, daily experiences of His involvement and nearness. Personal experiences play a crucial role in shaping their understanding of truth. I share the same testimony; I cannot deny the experience I had the evening I accepted Jesus as my Saviour and Lord (John 1:12). I cannot deny the peace that fills my heart when I talk to God in prayer. For me, it is an undeniable reality that God speaks to me, and sometimes I experience His tangible nearness. I can recount numerous occasions where events occurred that led me to conclude that God was with me in a specific situation.

When tens of millions of Christians share similar testimonies since their conversions, it is essential to take notice if those experiences align with the Bible and affirm the testimonies of Christians who claim to experience God's nearness and help in their daily lives.

Why I Believe

Sooner or later, someone will ask you: Why do you believe? Many people do not have a clear answer for themselves on why they believe. This reading plan will help you write down your own testimony of why you believe.
