Why I BelieveSample

No. 15 – I believe because of the fulfilment of Biblical prophecy
Luke 24:44 (BSB) - Jesus said to them, “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”
The probability of one man fulfilling just eight prophecies is one in ten to the power of seventeen (1 in 10^17 or one in one hundred quadrillionth). J.C. Ryle, a pastor, preacher, and writer from a previous century, aptly stated, "The immense accumulative evidence of fulfilled prophecy is one of the strongest proofs of the divine inspiration of Scripture."
Jesus fulfilled over 300 Old Testament prophecies, including His virgin birth, the price of His betrayal, and the method of His death. He accomplished what was written in the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms.
The following ten serve as examples:
Born of a Virgin - Prophecy: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14; NIV).
Fulfilment: Matthew 1:22–23; Luke 1:26–35.
Born in Bethlehem - Prophecy: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah… out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel” (Micah 5:2; NIV).
Fulfillment: Matthew 2:1; Luke 2:4–7.
A Descendant of David - Prophecy: “I will raise up your offspring to succeed you… I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” (2 Samuel 7:12-13; NIV).
Fulfilment: Luke 1:32-33; Matthew 1:1.
Herod’s Massacre of Children Foretold - Prophecy: “A voice is heard in Ramah… Rachel weeping for her children…” (Jeremiah 31:15; NIV).
Fulfilment: Matthew 2:16-18.
The Triumphal Entry - Prophecy: “See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9; NIV).
Fulfilment: Matthew 21:4–9; John 12:14–15.
Betrayed for Thirty Pieces of Silver - Prophecy: “They paid me thirty pieces of silver… and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord” (Zechariah 11:12-13; NIV).
Fulfilment: Matthew 26:14, 15; Matthew 27:3, 10.
Silent Before His Accusers - Prophecy: “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth… like a lamb led to the slaughter” (Isaiah 53:7; NIV).
Fulfilment: Matthew 27:12–14; Mark 15:4–5.
Pierced Hands and Feet - Prophecy: “They pierce my hands and my feet” (Psalm 22:16; NIV).
Fulfilment: John 20:25–27; Luke 24:39–40.
Resurrection Foretold - Prophecy: “You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay” (Psalm 16:10; NIV).
Fulfilment: Acts 2:25-31; Matthew 28:5-7.
