Come Closer

DAY 2 OF 14

Who is someone you really should call again?
Chances are, someone comes to mind right away—someone you've been meaning to reconnect with, but haven’t gotten around to.
Not because you don’t like them. Not because you don’t care.
But because something always gets in the way.
Sometimes we can’t even say what it is.
It just…hasn’t happened yet.

If we’re honest, we might admit: It just hasn’t been important enough yet to push everything else aside and actually make that call.
Or: there’s something in me—or between us—that’s holding me back.

It’s often the same with God.
In principle, we want to stay in contact with Him, but something always comes up:
The noise—daily life, the pace, the appointments.
Or unresolved questions, wounds, disappointments.
Or just…exhaustion.
Maybe a mix of all of these.

Closeness to God sounds good—but it doesn’t just happen.
Sometimes we’ve stopped seeking it because, deep down, we’ve already decided it’s no longer possible.

At the burning bush, Moses was confronted—not just with God, but with himself and the things keeping him distant:
His fears, doubts, and insecurities.
And it’s there, in God’s presence, that Moses finds his identity and calling.
There, he is changed.
There, Moses receives the strength to do great things for God.

Today is not about fixing what’s keeping you away.
It’s about looking honestly.
What has come between you and God?
What’s holding you back?
What are you afraid of?

God won’t force Himself on you.
He doesn’t run away.
He waits for you.

Ask Him today: “Jesus, what is currently standing between you and me?”

Speak honestly with Him—about what separates you, and what you long for.
