Come CloserSample

Have you ever been on a free-fall tower ride?
At the top, seconds feel like an eternity.
Dramatic music plays in the background.
Then—click—the free fall begins.
These are moments on the edge.
They can be fun—but also bring maximum loss of control.
You’d better not spend too much time wondering whether the mechanics are well-maintained. You’re strapped in. You can’t steer anything anymore.
All you can do is: Trust.
Sometimes, that’s what it feels like to draw closer to God.
Because closeness always involves letting go.
And letting go can feel scary.
Not because we distrust God...
But because we don’t know what will happen when we truly give Him space.
What will He change?
Will He ask something of me I don’t want to give?
Will He touch things I’ve tried to forget?
Jesus knows these questions.
And He doesn’t respond with dogma, but with an image:
If you, who are flawed, give good things to your children—how many more good things will your Father in heaven give to those who ask?
He says: God is trustworthy.
Not intrusive. Not demanding. But good.
A Father who gives gladly.
Who knows what you need.
Who doesn’t hand out stones when you ask for bread.
Still, many of us have an internal brake.
Because we’ve learned: Too much closeness can be dangerous.
Some have been hurt by people they let close.
Others have learned to hold back—not to show too much, not to want too much.
Some have never experienced that closeness can be safe.
This fear of closeness doesn’t just affect our relationship with God—it often runs through our whole lives.
We keep people at a distance.
We only show parts of ourselves.
We let no one truly close.
But God wants exactly that.
Not to control us—but because He knows:
Only closeness heals.
Only trust sustains.
Only love transforms.
Today, you can let go—not into emptiness, but into God’s hands.
And maybe you’ll discover:
It’s not really a loss of control…but a gain of freedom.
“Father, what still holds me back from fully trusting You—and what do You want to show me, if I let You?”
