Growing Multigenerational Faith

DAY 27 OF 31

When you were growing up, did you have someone show you who God was or take you somewhere where you sensed God existed? I remember my parents taking me to church. When standing up, I was only tall enough to see the people’s backsides (not necessarily the best view). During a time of worship, I remember thinking the people around me loved God, and I should, too. My wife remembers the impact of her grandparents taking her to church and Sunday school, where the teachers loved and shared the truth with her. Those investments were priceless.

Just as my parents and my wife’s grandparents did, we are called to stand in the gap to intercede and share Jesus with others. We do this by showing God's love, mercy, goodness, and righteousness in a hurting world. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, so others may have hope until the day that Christ returns and makes all things new. Let us be purposeful in showing our love for the Lord by investing in this generation. So this generation may intercede in asking for Christ’s mercy and in witnessing to the next generation. Ultimately, Jesus stands in the gap for us. However, we have the commission and responsibility to share with others Jesus’ offer to stand in the gap for their salvation.

Questions to Consider

  1. What practical things can you implement in order to stand in the gap and impact future generations for Christ?
  2. What is God calling you to do?

Actions to Take

  1. Make that phone call, invite someone to partake in the Bible app devotional, and take time out of your busy schedule to meet once a week for one-on-one mentoring.
  2. Pray that God will reveal to you the action you should take to invest in future generations.

Prayer to Make

Lord, thank you for standing in the gap for me because I couldn’t save myself. I pray for those far from you today. I stand in the gap on their behalf and ask you would use me to love them with your grace and truth.

About this Plan

Growing Multigenerational Faith

What does it mean to have a multi-generational heart for the church and the world? Does God care whether we are intentionally raising up new generations of followers of Jesus? Over the next 31 days, you will hear from multiple voices from multiple generations sharing what the Bible says about intentionally investing in all generations to grow a vibrant community of faith that bears witness to the wonders of God. We all matter, we all play a role. Come discover God’s heart for the generations. Psalm 78:4
