Growing Multigenerational FaithSample

I remember leaving what should have been a dream vacation, thinking, “I don’t ever want to come back here again.” The night before, my son had thrown a fit. At first, I thought he was just becoming one of those kids—the ones who complain even when everything goes their way.
But as I prayed and reflected, I realized the problem wasn’t his attitude—it was mine. I had been telling my son about the discipline and instruction of the Lord, but I was living like my joy depended on the next great vacation, instead of finding my contentment in Christ.
Ephesians 6:4 reminds us that parenting isn’t just about correction; it’s about direction—bringing up our children in the Lord’s ways. That means more than words—it means modeling what it looks like to find joy in Jesus.
Deuteronomy 6:5–7 calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, and strength—and to talk about and apply His Word consistently: at home, on the road, when we wake up, and when we go to sleep. If we love God deeply, our kids will hear about it—not just in our words, but in our way of life.

Questions to Consider
- What does your current routine say about what your family values most?
- What is one way that you can more intentionally model a love for God to your children?
Actions to Take
- Pick one of the above ideas from question 2 and implement it this week.
- Include your family in the process of faith by choosing a new (or improved way) of participating in some family activity that demonstrates God’s love (either directly or indirectly).
Prayer to Make
Dear Lord, thank you for my family. As your word tells us, children are indeed a blessing. I ask for your continued grace and wisdom in raising them in your ways above all else, in Jesus' name, Amen.
