DAY 25 OF 30

Day 25: Jehovah-Bore – The Lord Creator

Devotional:

Jehovah-Bore calls us to awe and reverence among the many majestic names of God. It means "The Lord Creator" and reminds us that everything we see, every star, every mountain, every creature, every person, was brought into being by the word and will of God. He is not simply an artist or architect. He is the origin of all things.

Isaiah 40:28 speaks to this truth with clarity and power. In a time when the people of Israel were discouraged and disoriented, Isaiah called them to remember the greatness of their God. "The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth." He is Jehovah-Bore, who created everything and sustains it with tireless strength and infinite wisdom.

Creation is Ongoing

Creation is not a one-time act in the distant past. The Hebrew word for "create" (bara) used in Genesis and Isaiah carries an ongoing sense of forming, sustaining, and giving life. God did not create and then step back. He is active in His creation, renewing, providing, guiding.

As Jehovah-Bore, God is the One who brings order out of chaos, beauty out of void, and purpose out of nothingness. This order has powerful implications for our lives. If He can speak galaxies into being, He can surely speak hope into your heart. If He can form mountains and oceans, He can create strength and character in you.

Creation is Intimate

Psalm 139 (NIV) reminds us that this Creator God also made us intimately and intentionally: "You knit me together in my mother’s womb... I am fearfully and wonderfully made." You are not an accident. You are the handiwork of Jehovah-Bore. He knows your design, your purpose, and your destiny.

The name Jehovah-Bore restores our value in a culture that often makes us feel small or insignificant. The One who created the stars also created you; He calls you by name. He does not grow tired or weary. His creative power does not fade with time. He is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms you.

Creation is Purposeful

When you feel like your life is formless or void, without direction or meaning, remember that God still creates. He creates new beginnings, new strength, and new mercies every morning (Lamentations 3:23). God makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Jesus, the Word through whom all things were made (John 1:3), came into the world not just to save us but to re-create us. "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17 – NIV). This is the heartbeat of Jehovah-Bore in the gospel, creating life where there was death, hope where there was despair.

Let today be a day of wonder. Step outside and look at the sky. Reflect on the intricacy of a leaf, the rhythm of your breath, and the beauty of your own story. All of it bears the fingerprints of Jehovah-Bore. And know this: the Creator of the universe is still at work in you.

Prayer:

Jehovah-Bore, thank you for being the Creator of all things, the heavens, the earth, and my life. When I feel small or uncertain, remind me that I was formed by your hands and designed for your purpose. Create a clean heart, renew my strength, and guide me by your hand. Let me live with wonder and confidence in you. It is in the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How does recognizing God as Creator shape your understanding of your value and purpose?
  2. Where in your life do you need to ask Jehovah-Bore to create something new?
  3. What is one way you can reflect the beauty of the Creator in how you live today?
