Blindsided

DAY 3 OF 6

Emotional Rollercoaster

Being blindsided can certainly feel like an emotional rollercoaster. One minute, you're dazed by what has transpired; the next, you're trying to move on and not think about it. Next, the devil is at you again, reminding you of what he/she said or did, or what happened that shocked you into all the unanswered questions. It can be quite haunting and daunting to a person's soul.

Jesus tells us not to think it strange when we meet the fiery darts of the enemy-expect them! (1 Peter 4:12) I find the more I say yes to God, the more I have come to expect the enemy on my heels trying to trip me. Satan often loves to use some of the ones closest to you to do it, too! We can say that we count it a privilege when we are met with an attack/s for Jesus' sake, according to Scripture! (James 1:2-4)

So, what do I do when my mind and heart choose to get back on that rollercoaster of emotions regarding my situation that I'm overwhelmed about? I decide to replace my consuming thoughts with more positive ones. It's definitely a choice that I have the ability to make for myself! (also Scriptural: Phil. 4:8-9) Paul tells us here that if we think on what is good and praiseworthy, then the Peace of God will come! Who else could use a bit of extra Peace from God? An attitude of gratitude, even in the worst of our moods, can change everything!

Even when you don't "want" to be grateful, you just don't "feel" like it- do it anyway. Don't hold on to hurts and offenses. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong. It's always wrong to continue standing in offense mode! Staying in offense mode prevents you from getting better and sets you up for "bitter," instead. No one has time for that. Wisdom yields patience and gives us the benefit in overlooking an offense. (Proverbs 19:11)

The enemy blindsided King David, catching him off guard when he saw Bathsheba bathing from afar. Had David been able to see the many consequences ahead, he might have gone off to battle himself. He had a choice, and he made a poor one that negatively affected many. (2 Samuel 11)

Goal to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, every minute of every day, and watch life get better! (2 Cor. 10:5, Romans 12:2)

About this Plan

Blindsided

We have all been there at some point in life...blindsided by a loss, a person's actions/inaction, a situation, or circumstance. Any of these may prompt you to question many things you thought you knew and believed to be true. Nothing takes God by surprise. Let's learn and seek the lesson that God has for us in our states of shock.
