God’s Little Oceanographer: A 5-Day Reading Plan for KidsSample

Day 1: Paths of the Sea
“Little oceanographer, let's take a trip to the sea.
Down, down, down under the waves lies an amazing world to explore.”
Stand in Awe:
Picture yourself on the beach looking out at the ocean. What do you see? Endless, moving water. Waves rushing in and out. The Bible says God created the oceans and everything in them. The ocean constantly moves due to wind, tides, temperatures, and salt content. God directs the paths of the sea, just as He directs the paths of your life.
Discuss:
Look at a globe or a map of the world. Locate the Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Indian, and Southern Oceans. What do you learn about God from viewing the oceans?
Prayer:
Thank You, God, for creating the oceans. Thank You for showing Your love to me by directing my path just like the paths of the moving oceans. Amen.

About this Plan

Based on Tina Cho’s picture book, this reading plan will help kids appreciate God’s creation of the ocean and all the living creatures. Young oceanographers will understand that God's creation reflects His love for them. God's glory is revealed in the ocean and its content, but His children matter most. This plan can be done with kids and parents to foster curiosity about ocean science and to appreciate God’s handiwork and love.
