CollideSample

It’s easy to start feeling stuck or to continue doing things the way they have always been done. After all, that’s what’s familiar. We may imagine getting out of our comfort zone as being impossible because of how different and unfamiliar it feels. However, that is what makes this passage to the church in Ephesus so powerful. Paul is telling these early Christians that God has prepared all the good work ahead for them to do. In other words, it doesn’t matter if it feels unfamiliar, or scary, or impossible to imagine. It may be all those things to us, but it isn’t all those things to God.
God has equipped us with everything we need to make the work ahead of us possible. Our rut is only a rut to us, and the unfamiliar future is only unfamiliar to us. We can trust that God has given us what we need to accomplish the good work before us, even if it takes us in a direction or to a place we never anticipated. Knowing we have been equipped, knowing we have been prepared, and knowing we are not going alone to do the work before us can give us the confidence to get out of the comfort zone or bubble we have created and begin to encounter a world we might never have expected.
This week, discuss with a spouse, trusted friend, or members of your small group what it would look like to step out of your comfort zone and into the work God has for you.

About this Plan

Change often feels like a collision. Getting jolted out of the rut of predictability doesn’t always feel good, but it does have the potential to lead to something positive. Scripture is full of examples of people who collided with God and were never the same because of it. That didn’t mean it was always easy, but it did mean they were forever changed as a result. What would it take to put yourself in a position to collide with God?
