Seeing With Your EarsSample

What Do You Hear? (Hearing in the Time of Mercy)
We are living on borrowed time—God’s mercy time, not because judgment isn’t coming, but because His mercy triumphs over judgment. Like in the days of Noah, the earth has been given a window of grace. But mercy, though extended, has an expiration date. The question for the Church is no longer just “What are you seeing?” but “What are you hearing?” Are we tuned in to God's voice, or are we distracted by the noise of the age?
There’s a spiritual fog over this generation. In a world increasingly hostile to truth, hearing God clearly is critical. The culture promotes confusion, inverted morality, and unchecked rebellion—where evil is called good, and good is deemed offensive. But God still speaks to those who tune their ears. The revival we need won’t come through another performance or celebrity preacher. It will come through a remnant who hears and obeys God's Word.
When Elijah pronounced judgment—three years without rain—it looked like devastation was coming. But Elijah didn’t panic. He didn’t react based on what he saw. He sought another word from God. And God answered. “Go to the Brook Cherith,” He said, “and I will provide for you there.” Even in a drought, God had a word, a hiding place, and provision. Elijah heard, and that hearing saved his life.
You must learn to distinguish between the global word and the personal word. Just because judgment is on the land doesn’t mean God hasn’t spoken provision and protection over you. But to access that promise, you must hear it. You must seek God for the "there" He’s calling you to—your Brook Cherith. Don't let fear paint pictures in your mind. Go after the voice of the Shepherd who knows your name.
Faith is not denial. It is directional. It doesn’t ignore the problem; it redirects the focus to what God said in the middle of the problem. When Elijah saw famine coming, he didn’t hoard, hide, or build a bunker. He heard. And what he heard changed what he saw. Every voice—news, culture, even well-meaning friends—is building an image in your mind. Make sure the loudest voice in your life is God's.
We are not only bombarded with fear externally but also internally. Your past, trauma, generational patterns, and failures all speak—often louder than truth. But these voices must bow to what God says. If you believe the enemy’s narrative, you’ll surrender before the fight begins. But if you keep hearing truth—declaring it, meditating on it, praying it—you’ll form new inner images rooted in God’s promises.
This season requires radical hearing and radical obedience. The natural systems may fail. Rain may dry up. Banks may fall. Jobs may shift. But those who live by hearing will be led to their brook. And even if the brook dries up, God has another word coming. Our provision is not in a place—it’s in a Person. The word of God is not just information; it is the instruction for survival in the end times.
So, what are you hearing in this season? Are you stuck on what the enemy is projecting, or are you pressing in to hear the voice of the Spirit? Elijah wasn’t exempt from judgment, but he was covered because he heard. In this season of extended mercy, the Church must wake up. We must stop echoing fear and start proclaiming faith. We must stop accepting defeat and start announcing victory. For every evil word in the atmosphere, you have permission to declare God’s Word louder.
Reflection Questions:
- When you receive bad news or a discouraging report, what is your first instinct: react, retreat, or seek another word from God?
- Whose voice has been shaping your vision lately—God’s, culture’s, or your own fear?
- What area of your life is in need of a "Brook Cherith" word—a specific directive from God for provision or protection?
Action Step:
Identify one negative word or report that’s been influencing your thoughts (financial lack, health, fear of the future, etc.). Search the Scriptures for a specific word from God that counters it. Write it down, speak it aloud daily, and refuse to come into agreement with the opposing report.
