Seeing With Your Ears

DAY 10 OF 10

The Power Of Rest – Seeing Breakthrough Through The Sabbath

After nine days of learning how to hear God's voice, trust His Word above all, endure in prayer, partner with the Holy Spirit, and posture ourselves rightly—today we conclude with one of the most overlooked but vital elements of spiritual maturity: rest. Not rest as in “doing nothing,” but rest as an act of faith. Rest as a prophetic declaration that God is enough, and He is still working even when we are not.

In Genesis, God modeled rest not because He was tired but to set a divine pattern. On the seventh day, He blessed the day and hallowed it. This means the seventh day was not just a break from work, but a holy invitation to shift our focus to Him. For six days we labor. On the seventh, we are called to step back, cease striving, and reconnect deeply with our Creator. In this rhythm, we are reminded: our strength is not in doing, but in being aligned with Him.

Throughout this sermon series, we’ve seen Elijah obey without evidence, endure drought with nothing but a word, and finally receive supernatural strength after waiting and praying. His journey ends with breakthrough—but only after persistent obedience and rest. Seven trips by the servant. Seven dips in the Jordan for Naaman. Seven days of marching around Jericho. In each case, the number seven signified completion, rest, healing, and restoration.

We’ve fasted. We’ve prayed. We’ve cried out. And yet, some strongholds remain. Why? Perhaps the final key is not more effort, but more restful faith—faith that worships when there’s no manifestation, faith that listens more than it works, and faith that lays down busyness in favor of divine focus. True rest is not lazy; it is sacred space. It is a weapon of warfare in a hyperactive world.

And it’s not just about taking a nap. Biblical rest is intentional. It is setting aside one day where your focus on God is seven times stronger than the other six. A day to meditate, worship, journal, bless, eat with loved ones, and declare God’s faithfulness. It’s not “me time.” It’s “God time.” And from that rest flows breakthrough, freedom, and healing.

Don’t miss this: Elijah heard the abundance of rain before he saw it, but the release came in the seventh posture. Naaman was healed on the seventh dip. Jericho fell on the seventh day. And for us, many of our battles may break not by more pushing, but by finally entering God's rhythm.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What has your approach to rest looked like up until now—has it been God-centered or self-centered?
  2. What changes can you make to ensure your rest day is seven times more focused on God?
  3. In what areas of your life might breakthrough be waiting on rest rather than more effort?

Action Step:

Choose and consecrate one day this week as your Sabbath. Turn off distractions. No labor. No striving. Replace noise with worship. Cook in advance if needed. Meditate on scripture. Spend time with God and your family. Declare over your rest: “This is holy. This is healing. This is my day of breakthrough.” Then, watch for what God begins to unlock.

About this Plan

Seeing With Your Ears

"Seeing with Your Ears" is a devotional plan that teaches believers to prioritize hearing God's voice over relying on natural sight, especially during crisis or uncertainty. It explores how faith comes by hearing, emphasizing spiritual sensitivity, obedience, and trust in God's Word even when circumstances seem contrary. The plan encourages believers to walk by faith, develop discernment, and live by divine revelation rather than emotional or physical evidence.
