Heart for the House Sample

"O Lord our God, even this material we have gathered to build a Temple to honor your holy name comes from you! It all belongs to you!" — 1 Chronicles 29:16 (NLT)
In 1 Chronicles 29, David leads the people in generously giving toward the construction of the Temple. What’s beautiful is David’s heart posture — he acknowledges that everything they gave was already God’s to begin with.
This reminds me of when I was saving for a mission trip, and even though the cost seemed overwhelming, God provided through unexpected means. When the funds came in, I realized how little control I actually had over the process.
Like David, I was humbled that God invites us to partner with Him using resources He has already placed in our hands. It’s easy to cling tightly to what we have, but when we see ourselves as stewards rather than owners, generosity becomes an act of worship, not obligation.
Today, reflect on what God has placed in your hands—time, talents, or resources—and look for one way to give it back to honor Him. It could be a donation, an encouraging word, or an act of service.
Prayer:
Lord, everything I have comes from You. Help me hold my resources with open hands and a generous heart. Let my giving reflect my trust in You and my desire to honor Your name. Thank You for including me in Your work. Amen.

About this Plan

David was able to set the stage for Solomon to build the temple by providing the victories for Solomon to have peace in the land, provision, and a launch pad for the new season to come. There are lessons in this for us today! For our future generations to see victory, it will take us fighting the battles now, and generously supporting God's plans to come! Join us through 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles and be inspired by how you can be setting the next generation up for victory.
