Hearing God When It Seems ImpossibleSample

God doesn’t just want you to read about Him—He wants you to know Him personally. Just like a healthy relationship requires closeness, the same is true with God. You cannot hear His whisper if you are standing far away.
In John 10:27, Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Notice that He doesn’t say, "My sheep occasionally hear My voice," but rather, "My sheep hear My voice." It is a present, ongoing relationship. We must be near God to hear God.
However, I understand that this is often easier said than done. Life is filled with distractions that pull us away. Social media, stress, work, and entertainment are all things constantly competing for our attention. It's important for us to understand that if the enemy can't get you to fall into sin, he will simply make you too busy to connect with God. That’s why Jesus frequently withdrew to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16). He modeled for us the necessity of silence and solitude to tune into the Father’s voice.
If your life feels noisy, take inventory. Are you rushing from task to task without making space for stillness? Have you been trying to hear God while drowning in distractions? The key to hearing Him more clearly is not listening harder—it’s drawing closer.
Challenge: Identify one distraction that has been pulling you away from spending time with God. Take a break from it today and replace that time with prayer or worship.
Let's Pray:
Father, I want to know You, not just from a distance, but intimately. Help me to remove distractions and prioritize Your presence. Teach me to make space for stillness so I can recognize Your voice when You speak. Draw me closer to You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Hearing God’s voice can feel difficult, especially in seasons of distraction, doubt, or silence. But as A.W. Tozer said, “It’s the nature of God to speak.” This 5-day reading plan will help you understand how God speaks and allow you to position yourself to hear Him more clearly.
