Finding Hope: A Journey With Jesus for WomenSample

The story of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 is a powerful reminder that faith in Jesus can bring restoration to every part of our lives. For twelve long years, this woman had suffered physically, emotionally, and socially. Despite seeking help from many doctors and spending all she had, her condition only worsened. Yet, in the midst of her desperation, she found hope in Jesus.
She believed, “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.” Acting on this belief, she pushed through the crowd and touched the edge of Jesus' cloak. Instantly, her bleeding stopped, and she knew she was healed. But the story doesn’t end there. Jesus stopped, turned to the crowd, and asked, “Who touched My clothes?” Though His disciples were confused by the question due to the large crowd, Jesus knew that someone had reached out to Him in faith.
Trembling with fear, the woman came forward and confessed everything. In response, Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” This encounter reveals a profound truth: Jesus doesn’t just want to heal our bodies. He wants to restore every part of our lives.
Jesus Restores More Than Just the Physical
The woman’s condition not only caused physical suffering but also deep emotional and social pain. According to Old Testament law, her bleeding made her ceremonially unclean (Leviticus 15:25-27). This meant she was excluded from public worship and isolated from others, unable to experience the warmth of human touch or community.
When Jesus healed her, He restored more than her physical health:
- Physically: Her body was healed instantly.
- Emotionally: Jesus called her "Daughter," offering her dignity and acceptance.
- Socially: She could return to her community without fear of rejection.
- Spiritually: Jesus affirmed her faith and gave her peace.
This is the heart of Jesus—to restore us completely. No matter how broken or isolated we feel, He sees us, loves us, and is willing to bring healing to every area of our lives.
Faith Moves Us Toward Jesus
What gave this woman the courage to press through the crowd despite the risks? Faith. She believed that Jesus had the power to heal her, and that belief moved her to action. Her faith wasn’t just a passive hope. It was an active trust that caused her to reach out to Jesus.
In the same way, Jesus invites us to come to Him with our brokenness. What areas of your life need His healing touch? Whether it’s physical pain, emotional wounds, relational struggles, or spiritual dryness, He is able to restore you. Hebrews 4:16 encourages us:
"Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
No matter how long you’ve been struggling, Jesus is within reach. You don’t have to fix everything before you come to Him—come as you are, in faith, and trust that He sees and cares for you.
When Healing Doesn’t Come Right Away
It’s important to acknowledge that, like the woman, we may wait a long time for healing—or it may not come in the way we expect. The Apostle Paul faced a "thorn in the flesh" that God chose not to remove. Yet, God told him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
When answers seem delayed, God is still working. Sometimes He uses our struggles to deepen our faith, teach us to rely on Him, and shape us into the people He wants us to be (James 1:2-4).
If you’re still waiting for restoration, don’t lose heart. Trust that God’s grace will sustain you and that He is working even when you cannot see it.
Take the First Step Toward Restoration
Like the woman who reached out to touch Jesus, you are invited to take a step of faith. Here are a few practical ways to do that:
- Bring Your Needs to Jesus in Prayer: Be honest about what you’re struggling with and ask for His help.
- Trust His Timing: Believe that God is at work, even when the answers don’t come immediately.
- Seek Community: Don’t walk through your struggles alone—reach out to a trusted friend, pastor, or counselor for support.
- Share Your Story: If God has brought healing or comfort to you, share your experience to encourage others.
What do you need to bring to Jesus today? Whether it’s a physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual need, He is ready to restore you. Take a step of faith, reach out to Him, and trust that His compassion and power are still at work.
Challenge: Identify one area of your life that needs restoration. This week, commit it to Jesus in prayer and take a step of faith by trusting Him to work in that situation. He sees you, He cares for you, and He is able to restore you.
