Come as You Are: A Journey With Jesus for WomenSample

Have you ever wondered if God truly sees you? If He knows who you are or cares about your story? In the film, Rivka voices a doubt many of us have felt: “The God who created all of this? I doubt He even sees me, much less knows me.” Like Rivka, you may question whether God pays attention to someone like you. But the truth is, He does. He sees you, He knows you, and He loves you.
The Fear of Being Invisible
Dr. Larry Crabb, a well-known Christian psychologist, once said, “The core terror of women is invisibility.” Do you resonate with that? The fear of being unseen, unheard, and unnoticed can be overwhelming. But God’s Word speaks directly to this fear. One of the names for God in the Bible is El Roi, "The God Who Sees." This name reminds us that no one goes unnoticed by God. He sees every part of our lives—the joys, the struggles, and even the moments we feel completely alone.
You Were Created with Purpose
Psalm 139:13-18 paints a beautiful picture of how deeply God knows us:
"You are the One who put me together inside my mother’s body, and I praise You because of the wonderful way You created me. Everything You do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt. Nothing about me is hidden from You! I was secretly woven together deep in the earth below, but with Your own eyes You saw my body being formed. Even before I was born, You had written in Your book everything I would do."
Let those words sink in. Before you took your first breath, God saw you. He knew you. He planned your days. You are not an accident or an afterthought. You are intentionally created and deeply loved.
God Knows You Intimately
Psalm 139:1-6 reassures us that God is aware of every detail of our lives:
"You have looked deep into my heart, Lord, and You know all about me. You know when I am resting or when I am working, and from heaven You discover my thoughts. You notice everything I do and everywhere I go. Before I even speak a word You know what I will say, and with Your powerful arm You protect me from every side."
God’s knowledge of you isn’t distant or detached. He knows you personally. He understands your thoughts, your fears, and your desires. You are never out of His sight or beyond His reach.
Nothing Can Separate You from God’s Love
Perhaps the most powerful truth of all is found in Romans 8:38-39:
"I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord."
No matter where you are in life, no matter what mistakes you have made, God’s love for you remains unshaken. He pursues you with relentless love. He sees every part of you—the good, the bad, and everything in between—and He still chooses you.
Will You Choose to Believe?
Rivka, after much doubt, finally believed that God saw her and loved her. She chose to place her faith in Jesus. Perhaps you have wrestled with the same doubts. Today, you have an opportunity to choose faith. If you want to acknowledge God’s love for you and begin a relationship with Him, you can pray this simple prayer:
God, my Father in heaven, You are holy and righteous. Thank You that You love me. I have sinned against You. Thank You that You sent the promised Messiah, Jesus, to destroy the curse of shame and guilt. Thank You that He died in my place. I want to follow my living Savior. Thank You for forgiving me and accepting me. Amen.
Reflect and Go Deeper
Take time this week to reflect on the verses shared. Ask yourself:
- Do I believe that God sees and knows me?
- How does knowing that God loves me change my perspective?
- What fears or doubts do I need to bring before Him?
Whether you have believed these truths for years or are just beginning to explore them, know this: You matter to God. He sees you. He knows you. He loves you.
