Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Daily Devotional

DAY 308 OF 365

Everything What does our practical giving have to do with worship? Everything. Imagine singing "Trust In You," or "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" with all your heart, and then opening your giving statement from your church to find out you gave a whopping two percent of your income. We sang the words, but did we live them? I watch families all the time dedicate their babies to the Lord at a dedication ceremony. They have no trouble entrusting their most prized possession to God. And yet, I also know so many who don't practice the same when it comes to their finances. Why is it easier for many of us to entrust our kids to the Lord than our resources? It takes sacrifice. So does worship. Hebrews 13:15 tells us to "continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that confess his name." We are to confess His name over our whole life-our life, our families, our job, our ministry, our money. All of it, not some of it. Worship involves our whole life and all of its sacrifices. If we hold back anything, we are short changing God, and thus our worship experience. Give it all back, and then give your all in worship. Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the LORD; and King David also rejoiced greatly. (1 Chronicles 29:9 NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
