DAY 243 OF 365

31-You've Been Warned Our journey down the Romans Road ends with a word of warning. Watch what Paul writes in the verse above. He urges his readers to note those who would come into the Body of Christ and cause divisions and offenses and to avoid them.

"Why bother with a warning like that? Isn't that rather anti-climactic for such a superb work like Romans?"

Take note, it's because Romans is such a superb work that Paul was compelled to pen this warning. Why? Because the doctrines and truths in Romans are so true that they're a true threat to Satan's agenda. Paul understood that as the Church in Rome began to stand on these things, the enemy was going to try to take it down.

Satan isn't threatened by things devoid of spiritual substance, but he's going to go all-out to attack the things that have the power to save. God's wrath towards sin, our guilt as sinners, justification by faith in Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit...these are the things that make the devil pace because they're truths that have the power to save souls. And as long as the Church of Jesus Christ holds true to them, they're going to be in the enemy's crosshairs.

And how does the devil do that? By trying to infiltrate the Church with people who want to cause division and offenses, which are two incredibly effective tools in our adversary's hands. More ministries have been brought down from within than from without. So we can understand the importance of this warning and why it's one of the very last things that Paul puts on his readers' minds.

If Satan finds our faith worth attacking, then it's also something worth fighting for. The fight is coming...and we've been warned.

Think about it...

What does this passage reveal to me about God?

What does this passage reveal to me about myself?

Based on this, what changes do I need to make?

What is my prayer for today?
