DAY 246 OF 365

North star

The term "North Star" has come to represent something much more than a single star in the sky. As any navigator knows, the North Star is unique because it doesn't move like the rest of the stars. It always stays in the same spot, making it the perfect reference point from which to make measurements and calculations.

So when something is described as a North Star, it signifies that it's fixed, unchanging, and reliable in guidance. As we delve into the subject of God's will, there's a North Star we need to acknowledge. There's something about God's will that's fixed and reliable, and it's simply this: God's will is always the right choice.

That's important enough to repeat: God's will is always the right choice. Period. Whenever we are faced with a situation in life that requires us to make a decision, the right choice will always be God's will in the matter...always and without exception.

That's an amazingly simple yet effective principle to live by, a true North Star by which to measure and calculate our decisions. Think it through: Here we have the Creator of the universe and everything in it...the Maker who knows absolutely everything inside and out...the One who has perfect insight into every single situation and scenario...the Giver and Author of life as we know it...and He offers us the benefit of knowing His will.

Doesn't it stand to reason that what He wants would be a much more reliable rule for living than anything we can offer up? Of course it is, and a person would have to be downright foolish to try and navigate through life according to something else. Nothing else is as fixed or reliable as the will of the Lord.

Let this single sentence settle deep down in that place inside you where things stick, and let it be a North Star to you: God's will is always the right choice.

The term "North Star" has come to represent something much more than a single star in the sky. As any navigator knows, the North Star is unique because it doesn't move like the rest of the stars.

Think about it...

What does this passage reveal to me about God?

What does this passage reveal to me about myself?

Based on this, what changes do I need to make?

What is my prayer for today?
