I KNOW THE WAY
Listen to “I Know The Way.”
I was barely 18 years old when I started my battle with depression. It was my senior year of high school, I had recently recommitted my life to Jesus over the summer, and in October I lost a dear friend to suicide.
To say my world was rocked would be an understatement. Without my family, friends, church community, and a professional counselor, I truly don’t know where or who I would be. They all genuinely pointed me back to God and reminded me that He is greater than anything and everything I will ever face on this side of eternity. I had to lean on Him.
Today, what I know to be true is that God is good. And also I know the way to God, our Father: It’s only through Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NLT).
God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, the one who calls us His sons and daughters, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is the one who was, who is, and who is to come—the Almighty One. And to get to Him, we have to accept what Jesus did for all of us: He made a way where there was no way.
When we step into a relationship with God, believing in all He is and does isn’t enough; we have to follow Him. Jesus teaches us to “seek the kingdom of God above all else” and quit worrying about what we can’t control, “for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:33-34 NLT).
As we pursue God, we’re called to keep “looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2 NASB).
When you follow Jesus, life won’t be all sunshine, flowers, and good things always and forever, but He will walk with you, sit with you, be present with you, guide you, listen to you, and love you unconditionally.
If you’re like me and have struggled with depression, worries, doubts, and fears, know that you’re not the only one. So don’t keep trying to do life alone. There’s a God who longs to know you and have a relationship with you. Seek Him first, follow Him daily, and surround yourself with other followers of His. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Take the Word to Heart
Take some time to memorize one of the verses from today’s Scripture reading. It’s a lot easier to fight worries and depression when we know God’s Word and hide it in our hearts.
