A Living Hope

DAY 15 OF 36

DAY 15

The Resurrected Christ on the Emmaus Road

Because of sin, it is possible to look into the face of Jesus and not see Him at all.

Luke 24 describes two of Jesus’s disciples walking away from Jerusalem, hearts heavy with disappointment. One of them, Cleopas, had heard the women’s report of the empty tomb and the angels’ message that Jesus was alive. Yet instead of rejoicing, they were discouraged (Luke 24:17). The hope they had placed in Jesus seemed lost.

As they walked, a stranger joined them. They didn’t recognise that it was Jesus Himself. He walked with them, taught them, and explained how the Scriptures pointed to Him (Luke 24:27). When they sat down to eat, He broke the bread—and suddenly, their eyes were opened. Jesus had been with them all along.

How often do we, like them, miss His presence? We can hear the truth, yet still allow doubt and discouragement to cloud our vision. But Jesus is faithful. He walks with us, speaks through His Word, and reveals Himself to those who seek Him.

Wherever you go, He is with you (Matthew 28:20). He desires to be known by you (Psalm 9:16). “But if anyone loves God, he is known by Him” (1 Corinthians 8:3). Don’t miss Him on your journey. Let the reality of the risen Christ change the way you see and live today: “He is not here, but He has risen!” (Luke 24:6).

About this Plan

A Living Hope

Jesus’ resurrection is more than an event in history—it is the foundation of our living hope. As we journey through this Easter devotional, we will link prophecy to fulfilment, tracing how Christ’s life, death, and resurrection were foretold and fulfilled. Let us stand in awe of our risen Saviour, who not only conquered death but offers us new life, firm faith, and an eternal inheritance that can never be shaken.
