A Living HopeSample

DAY 17
Peter’s Restoration to the Resurrected Christ
Before His final departure, Jesus appeared once more to His disciples, providing for them in a familiar way. He had done miracles like this before—calling them to Himself and showing His care. But this moment was especially for Peter.
Despite walking closely with Jesus, Peter had denied Him three times. Now, he had returned to fishing, the life he knew before. Yet Jesus didn’t leave him in his failure. Instead, He met Peter where he was and restored him, commissioning him to “Feed My sheep” (John 21:17).
Peter’s story reminds us that even after encountering Jesus, we can still struggle with doubt, failure, and returning to old comforts. But Christ doesn’t cast us aside—He calls us back. Loving Jesus means loving those He loves. His restoration of Peter wasn’t just personal; it shaped the future Church.
Later, Peter would urge believers to live in response to this grace: “Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love” (2 Peter 1:5–7).
Jesus’ invitation to Peter is the same for us: “Follow Me” (John 21:19). He calls us from failure to faithfulness, from regret to renewal. When we accept, we are forever changed.

About this Plan

Jesus’ resurrection is more than an event in history—it is the foundation of our living hope. As we journey through this Easter devotional, we will link prophecy to fulfilment, tracing how Christ’s life, death, and resurrection were foretold and fulfilled. Let us stand in awe of our risen Saviour, who not only conquered death but offers us new life, firm faith, and an eternal inheritance that can never be shaken.
